Name:Thomas Location: Tokyo, Japan Birthday:2/2/1984 Gender:Male
Interests:playing my guitar (mostly i love to just play long with songs on my pc.. mixing myself in to feel like i am part of the band), computers chat/ internet/ photo/ games/ funnyvids/ yaknow..), music (all kinds.. searching for new favorite songs), trying to learn to cook...(note : trying), meeting new people, making friends, hopefully trying surfing again, and of course Japanese (language, culture, people, music, the works). Expertise:I love music and playing guitar. i think i have a mildly decent musical ear... I am pretty good at figuring out things, as i like to ponder how things fit together (languages, words, music, electronics.. etc.. ya know..). Ok so- massive apologies to everyone for the absence of any sort of update lately- my laptop has been foobar for the past semester due to a problem with the power socket. Hopefully I can get it fixed sometime during the break so i can start (easily) uploading pics from my camera again!
ALSO - what the crap? Mypicgallery.com totally sold out and expired all accounts (see azu's) in favor of charging money. I caved in (due to the thousands of pics linked to mypicgallery that i have posted here) and payed for a year subscription. Anyways
NEWS
First off, the Study Abroad Contest featured my "calligraphy bw" photo! About 15 photos were selected and shown at an exhibition in one of the art buildings down at Texas State. I gotta say there were soo many awesome photos there. Alot of students who went to study in Europe must have been photography major/minors cuz some of them were incredible.
I meant to say "open young minds TO"
The semester has been pretty good - I was petrified that I would fail my CS classes due to not taking any CS at all during the last year, but they worked out ok. Living in a single apartment has its ups and downs.. Im looking to move into a place closer to campus hopefully for next summer.
seriously, my car was made for scuba. Dead Sexy
SCUBA class was awesome - and wrapped up with 2 chilly open dives at the Aquarina Center (formerly Aquarina Springs). Im planning on taking the advanced scuba course next semester, hoping my delicate parts wont freeze up and fall off within the first couple months.
PS I uploaded the old Numa Numa video to try and fix the problem people were having with not being able to download the whole thing: Right Click here and SAVE AS try it out, comment in my chat box if you cant watch all the way to the credits ----->
Texas is starting to cool down abit, and the semester is progressing nicely~
EVERYONE Im thinking about entering the Study Abroad Photo Contest here at Texas State, and i gotta pick 3 of the best photos i have to submit with an essay and everything. SO I want EVERYONE to comment on their fav 3! to help me out. ALSO if ya think some would be better in B&W, thats good too!
so im living here in the Hill Country again. My apartment is ok - a little too roomy and grown up for me, but Im getting used to it i guess.
CLASSES are pretty cool- I think i have forgotten everything about coding for CS.. so i think my programming class will be tough this semester.
I just got finished with the first SCUBA lab. HOLY CRAP we had to do a SWIM TEST after all the paperwork and stuff. I THOUGHT it was gonna be like "hey kids take a dip in the pool!" but it was fricking 4 laps. If it was back in highschool days it woulda been ok - but i havent swam that far since NEVER i think.
anyways it was swim 4 laps and then tread water for awhile which was ok cuz you could float if you wanted. HOPEFULLY after this week it will be an easy and pleasurable scuba experience. We were also offered good deals on wetsuits but I think i can just use my surfing one to save a few bucks.
As for the rest of my classes, Psychology seems like it will be the most interesting. The Prof, Dr. Friedman, loves to pace and fidget and act old hippy professorish.
anyways i am beat from that swim test still. - hungry too
so I am back in texas again - it's hot as ever! man i wish i was back in tokyo-
Azu has been staying at our new house in Houston for about a week and a half now. We have been driving around alot lately looking at stuff and hanging out in the Woodlands occasionally. This weekend we are going up to Austin and New Braunfels on a family trip to Schlitterbahn! Should be fun.
Anyways- my camera hasnt been so busy lately. Azu has taken a few good pics - her flashy new camera puts mine to shame I must admit. Today's photos are from the trip we took to Orange,Texas (near Beaumont). There we signed up for an alligator safari boat ride in the swamp! It was a really fun little trip with an eccentric captain.
From the Bow - into the swamp, Huge Texas Grasshopper (boddy fatter than my thumb)
Gator!
Lily pads
alot has changed since I left for japan - parents moved, changed to an appartment for school, my dog got fat, prices have increased (gas prices are crazy)
